Compare the 2025 Toyota RAV4 XLE and XLE Premium
You're not alone.
The RAV4 is the most popular SUV in the United States. It combines comfort with practicality, has a spacious interior, is reliable, and relatively affordable.
If that sounds good and you've decided to buy a RAV4, your shopping isn't done. Now you need to choose which one.
The 2025 RAV4 has four trim levels (11 including hybrid). Each offer a different set of standard features and price points. The XLE and XLE Premium are two popular ones often confused and difficult to decide between.
But rest assured.
Sloane Toyota of Glenside will compare the two and help you choose.

Exterior
The differences between the XLE and XLE Premium start even before stepping inside. And we don't mean the XLE Premium's additional price tag of approximately $3,000. We're talking about their exterior features. Below are important ones to consider:
- The XLE has 17-inch five-spoke light-gray metallic finished alloy wheels. The XLE Premium has 19-inch multi-spoke black sport alloy wheels. The XLE Premium's larger and shinier wheels provide a more upscale and sporty look.
- Both models have LED daytime running lights and LED taillights. The XLE Premium adds integrated fog lights that assist with visibility in fog and low-light driving conditions.
- The XLE Premium has a standard power tilt/slide moonroof with one-touch open/close. The XLE doesn't.
- The XLE and XLE Premium have the same six exterior color options, with one notable exception. Ice Cap is only available on the XLE. Wind Chill Pearl is only available on the XLE Premium. Both are white, but Wind Chill Pearl is shinier and more durable.
Interior
The XLE and XLE Premium offer different interior amenities.
The XLE has fabric-trimmed seats. XLE Premium seats are trimmed with SofTex®, a more durable material resembling leather. The XLE Premium also adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Both have 8-way power-adjustable driver's seats with lumbar support.
For technological features, the XLE and XLE Premium have the same standard 8-inch touchscreen infotainment systems. Each is equipped with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a three-month SiriusXM® trial, and six speakers.
However, only the XLE Premium offers an upgrade to a 10.5-inch touchscreen and 11-speaker JBL® sound system.
A digital rearview mirror with HomeLink®, a system that allows you to control home devices from inside your RAV4, is only available on the XLE Premium.
In addition, only the XLE Premium has an optional advanced technology package. It includes Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging capability and rear parking assist with automatic braking.

The 2025 Toyota RAV4 XLE and XLE Premium perform the same. But it's still important to detail this as part of your overall vehicle choice.
Engine
The RAV4 XLE and XLE Premium have 2.5-liter four-cylinder engines producing 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. This engine provides enough power for most everyday driving needs.
Transmission
Both XLE and XLE Premium trims come with eight-speed automatic transmissions.
Powertrain
Both offer All-Wheel Drive powertrains. AWD enhances traction and stability on slippery or uneven roads. The AWD system can also vary the torque distribution between the front and rear wheels. On either trim, AWD will cost $1,400 more than Front-Wheel Drive.
Fuel Economy
The 2025 RAV4 100% gas is fuel efficient for its class. FWD powertrains have an EPA-estimated 27 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. AWD-versions have 27/33/29 ratings. The AWD's fewer MPGs stem from the system's additional powertrain weight and friction created from powering all four wheels. The RAV4 also has a hybrid variant that gets approximately 10 additional MPGs combined.

Shop Toyota RAV4 XLE and XLE PremiumWhich is Better: The RAV4 XLE or XLE Premium?
We'd love to pick a winner. However, the verdict really depends on your answers to these two questions: how much emphasis do you place on having extra amenities and are you willing to spend several thousand dollars more for them?
Out of the gate, the XLE and XLE Premium are similar.
The XLE Premium's more upscale standard exterior features, and SofTex® seating, are their main differences. The XLE Premium has more optional features, but the cost of those add-ons could result in the top-of-the-line Limited trim being your best option. The Limited has standard features that are optional on the XLE Premium and unavailable on the XLE. It's also the most expensive 2025 RAV4 model.
Whether you're ready to decide or want to explore the XLE and XLE Premium further, you're in luck. Our Eastern Pennsylvania Toyota dealership has plenty of both trims.
